Nov. 2014, 2018
After failing a bond election in May 2013, Birdville ISD hired The Educated Vote to assist with the district’s second attempt to gain voter approval in November 2014.
The Educated Vote, in partnership with PBK Architects, helped organize bond planning sessions where administration and community stakeholders prioritized Birdville ISD’s facility needs based on an approved Facility Condition Report, long-term objectives and anticipated growth. The planning committee presented the proposed bond package to the Board of Trustees for approval, who in turn called a bond election for $163.2 million.
The Educated Vote then assisted the district with a comprehensive communications campaign to keep taxpayers educated on the facts about the proposed bond program referendum and helped organize a community-based volunteer committee that communicated the need for the bond program and benefits it would bring to the overall community. Voters successfully passed the bond by a record-breaking 68%.
Four years later, Birdville ISD hired The Educated Vote to once again provide community engagement services for the district’s November 2018 bond, which was the largest in the district’s history at $252.8 million. The Educated Vote assisted with planning the bond and provided campaign services for the advocacy committee, implementing strategies like yard signs and road signs, car decals, buttons, push cards, t-shirts, an aggressive social media campaign, and various direct mail pieces.
The Birdville ISD 2018 Bond was on the ballot the same year as a Texas midterm election that saw record-breaking numbers of new registered voters and turnout at the polls. Often not the case, support for the bond increased a full percentage point after Election Day votes were counted. The Birdville ISD 2018 Bond overwhelmingly passed with support from 73% of voters.
