Pearland ISD has enlisted The Educated Vote to assist with the district’s last five bond referendums. Most recently, after the Pearland ISD Board of Trustees called for a $220 million bond to be included on the November 2016 ballot (the largest in the district’s history), The Educated Vote provided full marketing and public relations services for both Pearland ISD and the political action committee that formed in support of the bond, Back the Bond 2016.
The Pearland ISD campaign included informational items like flyers, cut sheets for proposed bond projects at individual campuses, a community forum presentation, campus signage, and frequent updates via the district’s Facebook page, among other items. The PAC campaign implemented strategies like yard signs and road signs, direct mail pieces, campaign buttons, and an aggressive social media campaign.
In addition, the bond was included on the ballot with the contentious, volatile 2016 Presidential election, creating a unique challenge and requiring both Pearland ISD and the committee maintain aggressive communication to voters to keep them informed on the importance of the bond election, despite potential negative feelings toward either Presidential candidate.
The Pearland ISD 2016 Bond passed with 62% voter approval.
